Hollywood star and martial artist Chuck Norris passes away at 86

Norris's toughness became the stuff of legend on the internet.

Hollywood icon and eminent martial artist Chuck Norris recently passed away at the age of 86. As per a USA Today report, the family confirmed his passing on March 19. The report did not confirm the cause of death. Norris became famous around the world with his action roles and even became renowned for his toughness on the internet with memes galore. Regardless of the laughs, he has always been revered as one of the most entertaining actors in Hollywood history.

"It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning. While we would like to keep the circumstances private, please know that he was surrounded by his family and was at peace. To the world, he was a martial artist, actor, and a symbol of strength. To us, he was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, an incredible brother, and the heart of our family,” the family statement read.

"He lived his life with faith, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved. Through his work, discipline, and kindness, he inspired millions around the world and left a lasting impact on so many lives,” the statement added. Norris has starred in several popular American films like The Way Of The Dragon, Missing In Action, Lone Wolf McQuade, and The Delta Force, to name a few.

"While our hearts are broken, we are deeply grateful for the life he lived, and for the unforgettable moments we were blessed to share with him. The love and support he received from fans around the world meant so much to him, and our family is truly thankful for it. To him, you were not just fans, you were his friends,” the family statement further added.

"We know many of you had heard about his recent hospitalization, and we are truly grateful for the prayers and support you sent his way. As we grieve this loss, we kindly ask for privacy for our family during this time,” it added. Norris’s passing has seen tributes pour in from those in the American political space as well. One such person was Texas Governor Greg Abbott. Norris was a Texas native.

“Texas has lost a legend. All of Texas mourns the passing of Chuck Norris. He was not only a martial arts champion, action icon, and the one and only Walker, Texas Ranger. But he electrified generations of conservatives. Giving them a passion and voice to fight for the principles that make America the greatest nation on earth. He embodied the toughness, grit, and patriotism that make Texas supreme. Rest in peace, Chuck,” Abbott penned in a post on X.



Even Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shared a tribute for Norris on X. “Sara and I were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Chuck Norris, a great friend of Israel and a close personal friend. Chuck brought martial arts and the warmth of his character to millions around the world. May his memory be a blessing,” he wrote.
