The co-host of "The View" and political commentator, Ana Navarro, slammed President Donald Trump over his celebratory remarks on former FBI director Robert Mueller's death. Mueller, who once led an investigation into Trump's ties with Russia during his first administration, passed away on Friday, at the age of 81. Trump then took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to declare he was "glad" that the former FBI chief was dead, as he won't be able to "hurt innocent people" anymore. Navarro criticized the message, calling it an episode of "verbal diarrhea," and warned the president that such comments may one day be used against him.

The co-hosts of ABC’s daytime show discussed the controversial statement on Monday, calling out the hypocrisy of the administration's leaders. Navarro called out Trump for sharing the offensive message on the death of a highly decorated official of the U.S. “It’s the hypocrisy of this entire situation, I think, it’s something that we can’t get numb to,” said Navarro. "This is the same thing [Trump] did with John McCain after he died, the same thing he did with Rob Reiner. This is who he is because he is a mean person with a dark heart, verbal diarrhea, and no impulse control,” Navarro commented.

Co-host Sunny Hostin chimed in, saying it was something beneath the dignity of a president. She then called out the hypocrisy of the Trump administration by recalling Vice President JD Vance’s comments on people celebrating Charlie Kirk’s death in September last year. “We have a First Amendment in this country. The First Amendment protects a lot of very ugly speech. But if you celebrate Charlie Kirk’s death, you should not be protected for being fired for being a disgusting person, the Vice President said at the time, as per The Independent

Navarro then went on to note that Trump himself is 80 years old and one day, such reactions could be used against him as well. "And there will be people that when he passes away, as we will all pass away, will write these types of things and celebrate,” she said. “If you don’t condemn it today from him, you don’t have a right to condemn it then from anybody!” she added.

Trump's dislike for Mueller stems from his appointment as the lead investigator in a special counsel probe into Trump's ties with Russia during his 2016 presidential campaign, and possible foreign manipulation of the 2016 election. While Mueller did not charge Trump with obstruction of justice due to insufficient evidence, his report stated: "While this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him."

Despite the personal differences, Trump's message on Mueller's death was called out for being insensitive by Democrats as well. "Every day, this president shows his basic indecency and unfitness for office," Adam Schiff, junior U.S. senator for California, wrote in a post on X. The sentiment was echoed by New York Representative Dan Goldman as well.

Furthermore, popular comedian Jimmy Kimmel slammed the president for the remarks on his show as well. The late-night host joked Trump had an outburst and, like he always does, he found time to be a "pretty little b!#¢#," per Entertainment Weekly.
