'Who's gonna tell him?': Jim McGovern takes swipe at Donald Trump's 'stupid president' statement
President Donald Trump's recent remarks about California Governor Gavin Newsom have ignited fresh political controversy. During a Cabinet briefing on Thursday, Trump again attacked Newsom over his dyslexia, which he considered a "mental disability." "I think that statement, that interview. He admitted that he's a stupid person. I don't want a stupid person being President," Trump said. Reacting to the President's remark, Democrat Representative Jim McGovern took a sly dig at Trump with a post on X.
Sharing a clip of Trump making the statement, McGovern wrote, "Who's gonna tell him?" implying that the words held for the President himself. Many of McGovern's followers joined in the comments section to make fun of Trump's statement. "The liberal plot to make Trump look stupid, also known as "Operation Just Let Him Speak", is working much better than expected!" a user quipped, while another wrote, "Tell Trump to look in the mirror. He'll see the truth there!" A third user commented, "A dead person does not know he/she is dead. So does the stupid."
This is not the first time that Trump has criticised Newsom for his dyslexia. Speaking to reporters at the Oval Office, Trump had called the California Governor a "low-IQ" individual who is not fit to be President. "With a low IQ person, you know, because Gavin Newscum has admitted that he is a, that he has learning disabilities," Trump said, adding, "Honestly, I'm all for people with learning disabilities, but not for my president. I don't want, I think a president should not have learning disabilities, OK?" Trump also erroneously referred to Gavin as the President of the United States, saying, "The President of the United States, Gavin Newscum, admitted that he has learning disabilities, dyslexia. Everything about him is dumb."
Newsom reacted with a sarcastic message directed at the President. Taking to X, Newsom wrote in all caps—a style often associated with the President’s social media posts—that the U.S. finally has a dyslexic president instead of a brain-dead one. "NOW THAT I, GAVIN C. NEWSOM, AM OFFICIALLY PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES (THANK YOU DONALD!), I HAVE MANY BIG ANNOUNCEMENTS TO MAKE! FIRST, EVERY TRUMP EXECUTIVE ORDER IS NULL AND VOID," part of Newsom's post read. The California Governor's wife, Jennifer Newsom, too, lashed out at Trump, calling him the "most corrupt President in our nation's History."
Learning differences do not determine someone’s potential, but making fun of those with them certainly does. pic.twitter.com/blyg5xvEtv

"Suggesting that someone with dyslexia or any learning difference, for that matter, is somehow less capable of leading or achieving is extremely ignorant and offensive," she said in a video posted on X. "Dyslexia is not a measure of intelligence. In fact, quite the contrary. And learning differences do not determine someone's potential. On the contrary, some of the most successful leaders in business and the world have dyslexia." Dyslexia, a learning condition that disrupts how the brain processes written language, affects as many as one in five Americans.
