California Governor Gavin Newsom's wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, launched a blistering critique of Donald Trump after the President mocked Gavin's dyslexia. Speaking to reporters at the Oval Office on Monday, Trump called the California Governor a "low-IQ" individual who is not fit to be President. "With a low IQ person, you know, because Gavin Newscum has admitted that he is a, that he has learning disabilities," Trump said, adding, "Honestly, I'm all for people with learning disabilities, but not for my president. I don't want, I think a president should not have learning disabilities, OK?"

During his contentious critique of the California Governor, Trump also erroneously referred to Gavin as the President of the United States. "The President of the United States, Gavin Newscum, admitted that he has learning disabilities, dyslexia. Everything about him is dumb," Trump said. Governor Newsom reacted with a sarcastic message directed at the President. Taking to X, Newsom wrote in all caps—a style often associated with the President’s social media posts—that the U.S. finally has a dyslexic president instead of a brain-dead one. "NOW THAT I, GAVIN C. NEWSOM, AM OFFICIALLY PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES (THANK YOU DONALD!), I HAVE MANY BIG ANNOUNCEMENTS TO MAKE! FIRST, EVERY TRUMP EXECUTIVE ORDER IS NULL AND VOID," part of Newsom's post read.

Jennifer, however, was not as forgiving in her critique and called Trump the "most corrupt President in our nation’s history." "Suggesting that someone with dyslexia or any learning difference, for that matter, is somehow less capable of leading or achieving is extremely ignorant and offensive," she said in a video posted on X. "Dyslexia is not a measure of intelligence. In fact, quite the contrary. And learning differences do not determine someone's potential. On the contrary, some of the most successful leaders in business and the world have dyslexia." Dyslexia, a learning condition that disrupts how the brain processes written language, affects as many as one in five Americans.

The California First Partner did not limit her criticism to Trump's immediate statement, but also indicated that it showed a larger problem. "Day in and day out, Trump says something that makes him unfit for office. He degrades our vulnerable communities, our institutions, even the Constitution itself," Siebel Newsom said. "And somehow we're told to ignore it. Turn a blind eye, pretend everything is normal. Guess what, it's not, and we're fed up."

Drawing on her own political background, she also questioned the current state of the Republican Party. "As someone who grew up in a Republican household, shame on the Republican party for normalizing this vile specimen of a human being stationed at the top of their party," she said. "If we're going to talk about what’s disqualifying in a leader, let's talk about that. A convicted felon, a man found liable for sexual abuse, a man notorious for degrading female journalists. A man with a track record of bankrupting businesses. A man whose name has shown up thousands of times in the Epstein files. A man who sends mass extremists to terrorize Black and Brown communities and rips kids away from their families," she added.
