'It's never too late ' Rep. Jason Crow urges Republicans to stand up to Trump's Iran war policy
Since the start of the Iran war, Democratic lawmakers have called for the violence to stop, bringing measure after measure to rein in President Donald Trump's power to launch military operations. After he threatened to "wipe out a civilization," a growing number of lawmakers called upon Republicans to join them in their effort to oust Trump from office. While the GOP leaders largely remain loyal to the president, Rep. Jason Crow on Wednesday made a bold attempt to encourage them to break their silence and push back against what he called a "runaway presidency".
Sharing a clip of his news interview on X, Crow, a retired Army Ranger who sits on the U.S. Armed Services Committee, made a case for the Republicans to rise. "I've consistently told my colleagues it's never too late to do the right thing," he said, adding that the war is "jeopardising" the economy, American lives, and national security. "So if they want to join with us to push back on this runaway presidency, then I do actually welcome people into that coalition," he concluded.
Where are the Republicans pushing back on this runaway President?

In a separate interview with CBS's "The Takeout", the Congressman from Colorado called the war a "fairly unmitigated disaster" that has allowed U.S. adversaries to gain more control than before. Crow claimed that the military operation failed to make a regime change happen in Iran, as the new leaders are ever harsher. He further added that "Americans are paying $500 million more a day at the pumps. That money is going to subsidize Russia's war effort in Europe." Thus, according to him, the war has been "a disaster'.
Crow's comments come as the Senate rejected the fifth attempt from the Democrats to pass a war powers resolution that would have limited Trump's ability to use further military force on Iran. In a 46 to 51 vote, a motion to discharge the measure from committee failed, according to CBS News. Led by Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin from Wisconsin, the resolution would have ordered the president to immediately "remove the United States Armed Forces from hostilities within or against Iran, unless explicitly authorized by a declaration of war or a specific authorization for use of military force."
The vote came short of a day after Trump announced an indefinite extension of the ceasefire agreement to allow Iranians to come up with a unified proposal to end the war. He also threatened to resume hostilities if the regime did not accept his terms for a deal. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said ahead of the vote that while he is "relieved that the ceasefire deadline has been extended," Congress must "seize this opportunity to stop this blunder before the fighting resumes." He added that Democrats will force a war powers vote every week until Republicans see the reason and help end the war.
We must end Trump’s war immediately.

Every day this disastrous war continues, @POTUS digs himself deeper and deeper and deeper into a hole.
Everything Trump has done with this war has left our economy, military readiness, and national security in worse shape than before.
He added in his official statement that every day the war drags on, Trump digs himself a deeper hole, and if he refuses to dig himself out, "Republicans should pull him out by voting for our War Powers Resolution.'
