A growing number of Republicans, conservatives, and former allies of President Donald Trump are getting louder in their criticisms of the president’s war in Iran and the lack of action from their party. Most recently, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie claimed there is a serious "lack of principle" on display at the Republican Party during an interview at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. Christie, who was once in the running for a Republican presidential nomination, accused his party members of becoming "lemmings" who are too afraid to speak up against Trump.

In the C-SPAN interview, Christie alleged that there are no “no principles left” in today’s Republican leadership and all of the president's decisions are driven by personal gain. “He wakes up every morning and tries to figure out what is the best thing for him to do in his self-interest that day, and only that day. If it changes the next day, he'll change," he said. He further claimed that even those in the party who claim to support the president can't say that the president's actions are based on principle if they are honest with themselves. “The real lack of principle is on display every day in the House and Senate. These people have become lemmings," he added.

Christie then went on to point to the Easter Sunday message from Trump in which he issued an abusive threat to Iran in which he called on the regime to “open the fuckin’ strait [of Hormuz], you crazy bastards”, as he threatened to destroy the country's power plants and bridges. "Now common. There wasn't one Republican who could say it's enough?" Christie questioned. "Even something as simple as 'Mr President, those words on Easter Sunday, were ill-advised; they [Republicans] can't even do that. They're scared to do that," Christie claimed.

The former governor then went on to lambast one member of Congress in particular, Lindsey Graham. He called out Graham for only caring about his title and for being a "suck-up" to Trump. "He is a vapid, vacant human being. And for him to say the things he has said about Donald Trump in the past, and all he wants to do is suck up and play another round of golf and pray that he gets the endorsement for the United States Senate," Christie claimed.

The Republican leader's comments resonate with another former Trump ally, Marjorie Taylor Greene, who resigned from Congress after a public fallout with the president. Reacting to the Easter Sunday message from the president, Greene shared a lengthy post on X urging every member in the Trump administration who claimed to be a Christian to “beg forgiveness from God” and intervene in the president’s “madness”. She claimed the entire administration is complicit in the actions of Trump, who, according to her, has gone insane.

She accused Trump of breaking his campaign promises, noting that this isn't what people wanted from him when they voted for him.  “This is not making America great again, this is evil," Greene wrote on Sunday.
