Rep. Melanie Stansbury (D-NM) called on the Cabinet and Congress to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove President Donald Trump from office after his expletive-laden tirade against Iran on Truth Social. "The emperor has no clothes," Stansbury said, adding, "Time for the 25th Amendment. Congress and the Cabinet must act." Under Section 4 of the 25th Amendment, the Vice President and a Cabinet majority can remove a sitting president from office. Notably, it is the only part of the Amendment that has never been officially invoked in U.S. history.

Stansbury's claim came after President Trump's post on Truth Social, in which he threatened to blow up bridges and power plants on Tuesday if the Strait of Hormuz was not opened by then. "Open the F***** Strait, you crazy b*******, or you'll be living in Hell," he wrote. In a later post, Trump added, "Tuesday, 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time!" However, his posts appear to have backfired as Iranian embassies across the world mocked them, and Tehran maintains its stance on refusing to negotiate under U.S. terms.

While it is unlikely that Vice President JD Vance and Cabinet members will invoke the 25th Amendment, the President’s approval ratings have reportedly continued to drop, and the ongoing Iran war has contributed greatly to it. According to a Reuters poll conducted last week, only 36% of Americans approve of the job Trump has done so far. 35% of respondents approve of the strikes on Iran, while 61% do not.

One of the harshest criticisms of Trump over his abusive post came from his former loyalist, Marjorie Taylor Greene. She took to X to condemn the explicit comments made on Easter, calling for Christians in the administration to "fall on their knees and beg forgiveness from God." "The Strait is closed because the US and Israel started the unprovoked war against Iran based on the same nuclear lies they’ve been telling for decades, that any moment Iran would develop a nuclear weapon," she said. She also urged Christians not to support Trump's words and actions. "This is NOT what we promised the American people when they overwhelmingly voted in 2024, I know, I was there more than most. This is not making America great again; this is evil," she wrote.
