America ushered in its 250th birthday in a jubilant mood, with citizens across the political spectrum sharing congratulatory messages. One message, however, struck a more bittersweet note. Chase Oliver, an Atlanta-based activist and the Libertarian Party's 2024 presidential nominee, took a dig at the Trump administration: "I love my country. I don't love my government. The former makes me a patriot; the latter shows that I'm paying attention," he wrote on X.

The 38-year-old is among the most influential Libertarians across America who previously ran for Congress in Georgia’s 5th district. In 2022, he ran for U.S. Senate, debating incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) and Herschel Walker’s empty podium. Oliver is said to have been responsible for causing the runoff election between Warnock and Walker. In another post, Oliver struck a more celebratory tone, commending the brave group of people for forming a nation rooted in the principles of liberty 250 years ago.

On July 3, Chase, who identifies as a "proud American" and a "constant skeptic of the government,"  proclaimed that it was worth remembering that America is rooted in the principles of liberty and equality. "...we celebrate moving away from titles of nobility granted by blood and instead founded a nation that looks to merit and hard work as designations of nobility. That anyone, from anywhere, can come to this land and make themselves better through their hard work is the true sign of American greatness," he asserted.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump touted his political agenda, doubling down on his attack on communism, in his July 4 speech at the 'Salute to America' event, marred by turbulent weather. Thousands of spectators were evacuated from the National Mall as lightning and dark clouds rolled over the White House near the celebration area surrounding the Washington Monument. He also thanked US heroes, praised American ideals, and argued for the passage of the SAVE America Act.

"America will never be a communist country. Communism is a loser, and it always will be. The communist system is the opposite of the American system, and the communist system has

never worked. Our warriors did not fight communism on battlefields across the world only to have that menace rear its ugly head right back here in America. We’re not going to let it happen. We like to stop a threat like that immediately and before it begins. It’s like a cancer. You got to cut it out fast, " he declared.
