'Care enough to tell uncomfortable truths': Karoline Leavitt stands firm on her 'laziness' remark
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called out "bad faith actors" in a lengthy post on X, accusing them of taking her comments about Gen Z — those born between 1997 and 2012 — out of context during an interview with Fox News' Jesse Watters. "This interview was about the rise of communism on the Left, and I was asked by Jesse Watters why so many young people are buying the false promise of 'free stuff' being sold by communist politicians," she wrote in what appeared to be a conciliatory post.
I am seeing a lot of bad faith actors take my comments from this interview out of context. So here’s the full interview, and let me expound.

But the 28-year-old showed no signs of walking back her original comments, instead doubling down: "My answer: a combination of laziness, yes, and the liberal indoctrination that has been taking place in our education system for far too long. There are far-left educators pumping students' heads with garbage, convincing them that hard work and sacrifice won't pay off down the road because they want them totally reliant on the government instead."

Leavitt, echoing President Donald Trump's warnings about communism, added that she was telling "uncomfortable truths" because she cared about the country. "It's an undeniable fact that a growing number of young people in our country are falling for the lies of socialism and communism, sold to them by anti-American politicians who've never built anything, offer no real solutions, and are intent on tearing down everything that makes this country great," she continued.
I genuinely thought Karoline Leavitt was 45 but she’s actually 28 which makes her a Zoomer married to a an almost boomer, 32 years her senior, who happens to be a multimillionaire.

Rich of her to trash her own generation & cry about silver spoons. https://t.co/ToE5q0dzs1
Only toward the end of the post did she strike a softer note, acknowledging that many Gen Z Americans are "hardworking, entrepreneurial, and deeply patriotic." She closed by invoking Trump's own words on communism as "the enemy of free people everywhere" and "the enemy of the Constitution," vowing: "I will continue to call out the radical Democrats, socialists, and communists who are lying to our youth."
Karoline Leavitt thinks Gen Z just needs to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and marry a 60-year old New Hampshire real estate developer/resort landlord who you meet during your failed congressional run.

Her roundabout post does not appear to have mitigated the backlash, as many replies to her post continued to censure her. One user said her comments were never really about the "rise of communism on the Left. "There is, however, a rise in 'oh sh*t, we're going to lose the midterms, we need a scarier boogeyman, I know COMMUNISM' on the right." Another told her that no one had taken her comments out of context and asked her to stop lying.
Tell it, Karolyin’! She’s the Christian Conservative role model for aspiring young women: find a millionaire at least 3 decades older than yourself, get knocked up, have a child out of wedlock, then get married, and find a job telling lies that would make Baghdad Bob blush. In the interview with Watters, Leavitt appeared to agree with his suggestion that young people find life expensive because they don't have "real" jobs. "Unfortunately, I do, because this generation — my generation, I hate to say it — Gen Z and those younger than me have been raised with silver spoons in their mouths," she said. Watters then asked directly: "Is it laziness?" Leavitt replied, "It's laziness, and it's the liberal indoctrination," before suggesting young people who romanticize socialism should try living in Cuba or Iran.
