'The ONLY One': Mike Johnson applauds Trump’s Iran strategy as peace deal details remain unclear
House Speaker Mike Johnson lauded President Donald Trump's negotiating skills in an X post, claiming him as the "only one" capable of forcing Tehran to the negotiating table after Trump announced that the U.S. had "largely" finalised a peace deal with Iran following a nearly three-month-long war.
It must be noted, however, that people were quick to point out that former U.S. President Barack Obama and other world leaders have been able to get Iran to negotiate via the platform's Community Notes.
This did not stop Johnson from singing Trump's praises while calling Iran the "world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism". "We are greatly encouraged to learn that a PEACE DEAL in Iran is underway — and look forward to learning more about the specifics," he concluded.
Mike Johnson's comments appear to lock in a massive foreign policy win for Trump, even as the peace deal's specifics are yet to be formally announced, and preemptively shield the Trump administration from possible criticism.
One can also read Johnson's framing of the tentative peace deal as an endorsement for Trump's Donroe Doctrine, suggesting that the federal government will look to double down on it in the coming years.
I welcome the progress towards an agreement between the US and Iran.

We need a deal that truly de-escalates the conflict, reopens the Strait of Hormuz and guarantees toll free full freedom of navigation.
Iran must not be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon.
It must also end…
Johnson's remarks came after Trump's call with U.S. Middle East allies, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Jordan, Türkiye, and Bahrain. Pakistan was also part of the call, which concerned the peace agreement with Iran.
Trump also revealed that "final aspects and details" are currently under discussion, and an announcement is due soon. The deal will result in the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, according to Trump, who had a separate call with Israel to discuss the agreement.
I am deeply concerned about what we are hearing about an Iran “deal,” being pushed by some voices in the administration.

President Trump’s decision to strike Iran was the most consequential decision of his second term. He was right to do so, and we achieved extraordinary…
The president later posted another update in which he trashed Obama's nuclear deal with Iran, calling it "one of the worst deals" ever made by the U.S. while accusing it of paving a way for Tehran to develop a nuclear weapon.
So another deal that’s not a deal that’s a deal that’s not a deal that’s a deal that’s not a deal that’s a deal that’s a…surrender.

What a horrible fucking mistake this war was. People killed, economies destroyed, and Iran comes out stronger. Trump should be in jail. Again.
"Not so with the transaction currently being negotiated with Iran by the Trump Administration - THE EXACT OPPOSITE, in fact! The negotiations are proceeding in an orderly and constructive manner, and I have informed my representatives not to rush into a deal, in that time is on our side," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Moreover, Trump continued that the U.S. naval blockade will remain in place until an agreement is signed. "Both sides must take their time and get it right. There can be no mistakes! Our relationship with Iran is becoming a much more professional and productive one," he declared.
Republicans own this reckless war of choice in Iran.

And the out of control gas prices crushing the American people.
You deserve better.
Some of the details that emerged on Sunday indicate that the deal will include Iran giving up its stockpile of highly enriched uranium and being able to sell its oil through sanctions waivers, along with an end to the war between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah militant group in Lebanon, Associated Press reported.
