On Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump addressed the nation, in which he claimed that election fraud was one of the biggest issues facing America at present. He directed administration officials to declassify several documents that suggest the possibility of foreign interference. He went so far as to blame China for getting access to the personal information of millions of voters ahead of the 2020 presidential election. Amidst all this, an old video of a Turning Point USA event is going viral, in which a college student cited a conservative database to prove that voter fraud was a rare occurrence.

During the event, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt and Erika Kirk were seen on stage taking questions from the audience. One person, reportedly a college student, claimed that voter fraud was "incredibly rare." "According to the Heritage Foundation, which is a conservative database, there have been a few hundred cases of voter fraud since 1982 out of hundreds of millions of votes. Additionally, according to the Brennan Institute of Justice, there are 21.8 million Americans who do not have easy access to proof of citizenship," he said.

He then went on to ask whether it was "worth it to risk millions of Americans from voting" to prevent a few hundred cases of voter fraud. Leavitt responded by saying that she would have to go through the reports mentioned to verify them, and asked, "Why are you okay with any voter fraud in the United States of America?" The video gained traction as President Trump doubled down on his claims of election malpractice across various states.

During his address to the nation, Trump claimed that the voter rolls included hundreds of thousands of non-citizens and those who were deceased. "And yet, we still have elections with no voter ID, no proof of citizenship, and tens of millions of ballots floating endlessly through the mail," he said. He also renewed his attack on mail-in ballots, calling them "inherently corrupt."

The Turning Point USA video is not the only one going viral since the President's address to the nation. Despite claiming that he did not lose the 2020 election, evidence now suggests that Trump may have tried to influence the results in his favor. In 2021, the Washington Post obtained a phone call recording between Trump and fellow Republican Brad Raffensperger, the Georgia Secretary of State.

In the call, Trump could be heard urging Raffensperger to find 11,000-plus votes, enough for him to win the state. "I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have. Because we won the state. I only need 11,000 votes, fellas. I need 11,000 votes. Give me a break," he said. "There's nothing wrong with saying that you've recalculated." Raffensperger responded to the request by saying that the numbers were incorrect. "The challenge that you have is the data you have is wrong," he answered.
