President Donald Trump's Easter Sunday rant on his social media platform drew sharp criticism from Democratic leaders, raising the alarm over the President's mental health. Trump, who skipped a few traditional services, took to Truth Social to issue fresh threats to Iran, demanding the opening of the Strait of Hormuz. Tearing into the message, Sen. Bernie Sanders called the GOP leader "mentally unbalanced" and urged Congress to step in and take action.

In his message, the President included a self-imposed deadline, abusive threats of attack on civilian infrastructure, and a bizarre 'praise to Allah'. "Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F***in’ Strait, you crazy b******ds, or you'll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah," he wrote. The message comes as Tehran has refused to open one of the world's most critical shipping lanes for oil and gas, demanding compensation for the damage caused by the U.S.-Israel strikes.

The language of the message was particularly striking to many leaders, who expressed concerns over the mental health of the President. Sanders, an independent senator from Vermont, called the president's ravings "dangerous". Taking to X, he wrote, "One month after starting the war in Iran, this is the statement of the President of the United States on Easter Sunday. These are the ravings of a dangerous and mentally unbalanced individual. Congress has got to act NOW. End this war."

Sanders has been critical of the military operation in the Middle East, as he deemed it unconstitutional and a violation of international law, during his speech at last month's "No Kings" protest. "One month ago, Trump and his partner, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, started a war with Iran. This war is unconstitutional. Trump did not seek or receive authorization from Congress. This war is in violation of international law. One sovereign nation cannot simply go about attacking another sovereign nation for any reason it chooses," said Sanders, according to The Guardian

Apart from Sanders, several other Democratic leaders also raised concerns over the President's message. Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer called Trump "an unhinged madman." He added that the President was yet again threatening "possible war crimes and alienating allies" at a crucial time in the conflict. "This is who he is, but this is not who we are. Our country deserves so much better," Schumer wrote on X.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, a former ally turned critic, said every Christian member of the Trump administration needs to "beg forgiveness from God" and intervene in the President's "madness." In a lengthy post on X, the former Congresswoman blamed the "unprovoked war" for the closure of the Strait and called out the president for breaking his 2024 campaign promises. "This is NOT what we promised the American people when they overwhelmingly voted in 2024, I know, I was there more than most," Greene, who broke from Trump last year, wrote on Sunday. "This is not making America great again, this is evil," she concluded.
