The partial government shutdown over the decision not to fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has taken its toll on American citizens and even tourists. The shutdown has seen paychecks for the Transport Security Administration (TSA) blocked, which has led to long lines at multiple airports across the country. While Republicans and Democrats continue to accuse each other, former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene opined that both parties are equally to blame.

Greene, a former Trump loyalist whose later rifts with the President led her to resign as a Congresswoman, has been increasingly critical of Republican policies of late. However, for the ongoing shutdown, Greene blamed both Democratic and GOP legislators. Taking to X, Greene revealed how both parties can easily remedy the situation at American airports today. She said that while Senate Republicans, with a majority of 52 Senators, could easily overrule the filibuster and fund the DHS, Democratic Senators can "vote to fund Homeland and end the chaos as well." "BOTH Republican and Democratic Senators are to blame. The manufactured political fighting only hurts the American people who PAY FOR IT ALL with your hard earned tax dollars," she stated.

Greene explained that American citizens have already paid for the paychecks of TSA employees with their taxes, but it was the Senate that refused to come to a common ground and deliver their dues. She also floated the idea of making the TSA a private body instead of keeping it under the control of the federal government. "Another simple solution would be to privatize TSA and allow airports to handle their own security, but getting Congress to all agree to do that would be extremely difficult if not impossible," she wrote. With the lack of TSA personnel at airports, President Donald Trump deployed ICE agents at airports to assist at checkpoints. However, ICE's reputation has led many Democrats to question the move, and instead urge Republicans to accept a bill to fund the TSA, along with the U.S Coast Guard, and FEMA. Meanwhile, a video of ICE agents manhandling a woman, reportedly at the San Francisco airport, has surfaced online.

Democrats have slammed the President following the release of the video. "ICE was at SFO airport last night, terrorizing a mother while her daughter watched. So much for the "hey we're sending ICE to airports to fill in for TSA" BS. ICE OUT OF CALIFORNIA," Senator Scott Wiener wrote in a post on X
