'Good Riddance' Democrats rejoice Trump's sudden firing of Attorney General Pam Bondi
Democrats are jubilant over the sudden firing of Pam Bondi as the head of the Department of Justice, with leading members of the opposition calling it a move overdue. President Donald Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, on Thursday to announce that Bondi will be moving on from her role, with her deputy, Todd Blanche, stepping in as the Acting Attorney General. With sharp allegations, quips, memes, and more, prominent leaders on both sides of the aisle took to social media to say "good riddance".
President Trump announced that he had fired Attorney General Pam Bondi on Thursday, after months of controversy surrounding the DOJ's handling of files linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Reacting to the news, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer wrote, "Good riddance. Pam Bondi was the wrong choice from the start," in his post on X, but he claimed the problems with the DOJ go beyond her. He claimed Trump was at the root of the "rot" at the department as long as he tries to use it as a tool for revenge. "The cover-up of the Epstein files, along with the countless other problems at DOJ, will continue," Schumer wrote.

But the rot at the Department of Justice begins and ends with Donald Trump. As long as his focus is on using DOJ as a tool for revenge and not law enforcement, the cover up of the Epstein files, along with the… https://t.co/kywfB2CAlW
While Trump framed Bondi’s departure in a positive light, saying “We love Pam," and that she had done "a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in Crime across our Country," Democrats accused her of destroying the DOJ's traditional independence from the White House. Prominent Democratic leader, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, claimed that Bondi "will be remembered for blocking the release of the Epstein files, weaponizing the DOJ to go after Trump’s political opponents, and handing out merger approvals as political favors." She alleged that under Bondi, the DOJ became a "cesspool of corruption" before mounting another "Good riddance," in her post.
Some leaders didn't hold back in celebration of the move as they shared memes and jokes to add a tinge of humour. Democratic Congressman, Marc Veasey, shared a meme of singer/rapper Ice Cube saying “Bye Felicia” from the 1995 movie "Friday." Meanwhile, fellow Democrat Chris Deluzio shared another meme on X from the animated sitcom "The Critic" that shows the protagonists burning a theater down, declaring: "And nothing of value was lost."

Meanwhile, leaders reacted to the appointment of Blanche as the acting AG, claiming he won't be any better. Referring to Blanch, who once represented Trump in the criminal cases brought against him during Joe Biden's presidency, Democratic congressman Don Beyer claimed the current president has just installed one of his former personal lawyers to lead the DOJ. “His blind allegiance to Trump is not a qualification for the job. He is wholly unfit to lead the DoJ,” Beyer said.
The DOJ is not a personal law firm, yet Donald Trump has installed another one of his former personal defense lawyers to lead the DOJ.

On the other hand, Republicans offered well-wishes to Bondi, while dodging addressing any issues with her policies. “Pam Bondi is a great friend and one of the best lawyers I’ve ever met,” Florida senator Rick Scott wrote in his post on X. He praised her work as AG and looked back at the times when he worked alongside her when she served as Florida’s attorney general.
