California Governor Gavin Newsom clapped back at Katie Miller, wife of the White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller, after the latter called the former one of the "worst offenders of violent political rhetoric." reacting to the statement, Newsom shared a lengthy post on X, in which he pointed out that Donald Trump loyalists like the Millers have never backed away from supporting the President's violent political rhetoric in the past.

Speaking about the shooting incident at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, Miller said that it was "no mistake" that the alleged shooter hailed from California, as Newsom was guilty of peddling a violent rhetoric against the President. "Gavin is the worst offender of violent political rhetoric that sparked this man's imagination," Miller said in a Fox News interview.

Newsom called Miller's comments "absurd." While he condemned the shooting incident and said that he was grateful that the President was unharmed, the California Governor did not mince words in his criticism of Trump. He claimed that it was President Trump who peddled the most violent rhetoric, and people like Katie Miller not only stayed silent about it but also played a part in amplifying it.

"The President has openly celebrated the deaths of his political opponents, called Democrats and immigrants 'vermin,' 'demonic,' and 'evil animals' who are 'poisoning the blood of our country.' He regularly uses violent language, threatens to arrest and jail his political enemies," the California Governor wrote. "The same folks cheering Trump's threats don't get to rewrite the narrative now."

Meanwhile, during the course of the Fox News interview, Katie Miller was quizzed about the actions of her husband, which many described as using her as a human shield. She quickly and confidently put those claims to bed, saying that the media could not let her husband have a "good news cycle." She also accused the media of painting her as the target.

"He's done so much for this country thanks to President Trump. President Trump has been at the forefront of change in this country and fulfilling every single campaign promise with my husband at his side for years. And they could not give Stephen Miller a good news cycle if they tried. They had to make me the target. And you know what, to that, I would say Stephen did a phenomenal job, and he was behind me and protecting not only me, but our baby," she said.
