Donald Trump's deployment of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents at airports has been met with sharp criticism from Democrats. While Republican lawmakers have called the move a necessity stemming from the Democrats' refusal to fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Democrats have blamed Republicans for refusing to vote for a bill that would partially fund DHS, including the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Secret Service.

The ongoing shutdown has led to chaos in airports as several TSA agents, working without pay, have resigned or are not showing up for work. The situation has led to a blame game between U.S. lawmakers, and the deployment of ICE in airports has only increased the divide. Severely criticizing the move, Rep. Melanie Stansbury from New Mexico, said that Trump's announcement regarding ICE agents at airports did not change the fact that he is in the Epstein files and that he started an "unauthorized war." She also claimed that Americans were struggling to survive, and the Republicans haven't been able to do anything about it despite being in power in the House, the Senate, and the White House. She also criticized the Iran conflict, calling it an "unauthorized war" that the President "can't find his way out of."

While announcing the deployment of ICE agents to airports, Trump pinned the blame on Democrats for not ending the DHS shutdown. "The Lunatics leading the incompetent Dems will be highly critical of their work," he wrote in a Truth Social post. Democrats have, meanwhile, proposed to fund certain agencies; they have refused to fund all of DHS until the Trump administration makes reforms to ICE and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP).

Meanwhile, as both sides blame one another, former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has slammed both parties, holding them directly responsible for the situation at airports. In a recent post on X, Greene explained how there were ways to end the chaos at airports from both sides. "The manufactured political fighting only hurts the American people who PAY FOR IT ALL with your hard earned tax dollars. In other words, you have already paid TSA, but the Senate refuses to hand over their paychecks," she wrote.

ICE agents have already been deployed to several airports across the country, and an incident at the San Francisco airport has started a fresh political storm. In a video that surfaced online, ICE agents were seen forcefully restraining a woman who was accompanied by her daughter. "ICE was at SFO airport last night, terrorizing a mother while her daughter watched. So much for the "hey we're sending ICE to airports to fill in for TSA" BS. ICE OUT OF CALIFORNIA," Senator Scott Wiener wrote in a post on X
