Avid Donald Trump critic and host Jennifer Welch slammed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for killing a 26-year-old Colombian man in front of his family earlier this week. Speaking on IHIP News, Welch said that ICE was a "government-funded police force that is murdering people" and urged Democratic members of Congress to make louder calls for its abolishment. She opined that the issues surrounding the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool were just distractions from such matters.

"All of these little things that Trump is doing to get us all distracted by these shiny objects are intentional. Meanwhile, he is stealing money from the American public," she said, before accusing the President of using his position to enrich himself and his family. "That's how corrupt this family is, and that is even before we get to the people in his cabinet. This is the most parasitic, anti-life, pro-death, anti-family cult on the planet that masquerades as these competent family men."

Welch claimed that she did not care about what the administration planned to do with the Reflecting Pool or what kind of renovations it was planning to bring to the White House. She said that she was more concerned about the things that were being "inherently" changed under President Trump's leadership. "That guy got shot in front of his three-year-old, and the people in the Senate are not doing anything about this. It's everyday Americans that stand up and go to Susan Collins' office and yell at her."

On Monday, ICE agents forced a 26-year-old Joan Sebastian Durán Guerrero, from Colombia, out of his car before shooting him to death in front of his wife and three-year-old daughter in Biddeford, Maine. The incident fueled widespread outrage as protestors took to the streets and flocked outside the office of Susan Collins, a Republican Senator from Maine who had earlier voted in favor of a $70 billion ICE funding package.

According to CNN, Democratic Senator Angus King said that Guerrero was not the target of the operation, making things worse for the immigration enforcement agency and its supporters. Additionally, the officers involved were not wearing body cameras despite an earlier court order mandating it to be so. Since the incident, agents have been directed to halt most traffic stops. However, Border Czar Tom Homan said that it would be a temporary measure rather than a change of policy.

As per the victim's father, his son had legal status in the United States. "He had a great vision for getting ahead, so many dreams to fulfill," Omar Duran, the father of Joan Sebastian Guerrero, was quoted by The New York Times as saying. "My son is a wonderful son—I don't know why they did that to him." The Department of Homeland Security said in a statement that ICE was "conducting targeted surveillance on the last known address of an illegal alien with a final order of removal," but did not identify the person they were referring to.
