Senator Ted Cruz shared a seemingly dystopian prediction of what would happen if Democrats win back control of the Senate, House, and the White House. In an interview on Fox News, Cruz claimed that the Democratic Party is focused on regaining power and not governance, and if they get control of the White House, their "hatred" for President Donald Trump would drive them to take measures that will ensure they stay in control "forever".

With the midterm elections less than six months away, Democrats are feeling increasingly bullish on the back of several special election wins. While historically the party out of power has gained seats in Congress in most midterms, Democrats are showing signs of a chance to flip control of both the House and the Senate, which will significantly boost their power to check Trump in the latter half of his second term. In light of this, the Republican Senator from Texas expressed his concerns over a potential "blue revolution."

"If they get control of the White House, the House, and the Senate, they will end the filibuster," Cruz told host Mark Levin on the long-standing rule that requires 60 votes to advance most legislation through the chamber. Trump himself has called to end it; doing so will allow Republicans who currently control both chambers to pass legislation and end government shutdowns without Democratic support. Cruz further claimed that Democrats will also "pack the U.S. Supreme Court" and make "every illegal alien a citizen and a voter."

He went on to add that Democrats in power will make "D.C. and Puerto Rico both new states, and they will do that to seize control forever." He claimed they will dismantle every voter integrity law and every photo ID law, as all that matters to them is seizing control. "And look, it's their hatred for Trump that they use to justify all of this. They say he's so bad that they are justified in doing anything—trampling the Constitution, trampling any semblance of democracy in America—as long as it keeps the Democrats in power," Cruz scathed.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party has seemingly appeared fractured in its messaging leading up to the midterms. Until last month, they stayed steadfast to the economic agenda, but since Trump issued threats of "wiping out a civilization," the focus seemed to shift toward removing the President from office instead. According to Reuters, 40% of House Democrats signed Representative Jamie Raskin’s bill to invoke the 25th Amendment with the creation of a special commission to assess Trump's fitness for office.

On the other hand, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries has repeatedly claimed that the impeachment of Trump will not be the focus of the party if they regain a majority in the lower chamber after the midterm elections. “I’ve made clear from the very beginning that our top priority is going to be to drive down the high cost of living,” the House minority leader said during an appearance on "Fox News Sunday" last week.

There have been signs of cohesion, as earlier this week, Raskin also supported Jeffries, saying the goal is to "de-Trumpify" the government and restore it as an instrument for the good of the American people. Furthermore, led by Representative Greg Casar of Texas, a group of Democrats rolled out a “New Affordability Agenda” of legislative proposals aimed toward bringing down costs for Americans, as an instrument seemingly designed to gain support for the midterms.
