'Spare us the pity party': Jasmine Crockett slams Trump over Nobel Peace Prize gripe
Rep. Jasmine Crockett was having none of President Donald Trump's gripes about being the most worthy recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize—more worthy, he's claimed, than past winners like Martin Luther King Jr. or Mother Teresa. "This self-obsessed president keeps whining about not getting the Nobel Peace Prize, but under his administration: A father was just killed by ICE. Children are still locked away in detention centers. And this war he promised he'd end? It's still going. Spare us the pity party. We deserve better," she wrote on X.
The Texas Democrat's comments come after Trump claimed he settled eight wars that saved millions of lives, making him a prime candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize, more so than any past laureate. The assertion came in response to a question about whether Venezuelan opposition leader and 2025 Nobel Peace Prize laureate María Corina Machado would be able to return to Venezuela. She has been in exile in the U.S. since December 2025.
Trump is STILL crying about not getting to Nobel Peace Prize?

Dude, you killed 150 children and started the war with Iran. That’s the opposite of peace. https://t.co/TImJjslIeQ
The 80-year-old has repeatedly suggested that he deserves the coveted prize, offering the resolution between Azerbaijan and Armenia, DRC and Rwanda, and India and Pakistan as examples to buttress his claims. "I did not tell her to not go back. When she won the prize, she said, 'I can't believe I won it'. The only one that should win it is Trump. I would say I should have won that award more than anybody that ever received the Nobel Prize," he told reporters aboard Air Force One while returning from the NATO Summit in Ankara.

In an unprecedented move, Machado offered her Nobel Peace Prize medal to Trump during a meeting at the White House in January, in what she called a recognition of his commitment to her nation's freedom, the BBC reported. "I think today is a historic day for us Venezuelans," she was qutoed as saying during the meeting, which came just weeks after U.S. forces deposed Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro following a raid on his compound in Caracas; Maduro now faces drug trafficking charges in the U.S.
Her efforts may not have yielded any change in the prize's status, as the Norwegian Nobel Committee and the Norwegian Nobel Institute rejected any effort to share the award. "The facts are clear and well established. Once a Nobel Prize is announced, it cannot be revoked, shared, or transferred to others. The decision is final and stands for all time," they reiterated in a statement at the time.
