'Narcissist in chief': Bernie Sanders slams Donald Trump's comments about Americans' finances
Senator Bernie Sanders slammed President Donald Trump on Wednesday, criticizing him over his recent comments about the financial situation of Americans. Taking to X, the Vermont Senator called Trump "the narcissist in chief," and claimed that the only thing that mattered to him was that his family made $4 billion since he was elected as President. He also claimed that the President did not care about the struggles of the working class.
Of course Trump, the narcissist in chief, doesn't think about the financial situation of Americans.

To Trump, it doesn't matter that the working class is struggling economically.
What matters to Trump is that his family got $4 billion richer since he was elected. That's it. https://t.co/sR5pYpxQb0
The Vermont Senator is not the only one to have criticized the President over his recent comments. Not surprisingly, several Trump critics have hopped on the train. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said that the President had "finally" said something true, and that the President "did not care about the finances of Americans," was evident in the governance of his administration. He also blamed the President's tariffs and the Iran war for the current high costs.
"You look at the imposition of tariffs—Americans have paid 90% of them. It's been a tax by the president that has made everything cost more," he said in an interview on the Meidas Touch Network. "His war with Iran, which he and he alone chose to go into, has skyrocketed the price of not just gasoline, but diesel, making everything more expensive. Every good we ship across the country now costs more. Going to see your family, if you have to take a plane trip, costs a lot more."
Beshear: The president finally said something that was true. He said he does not care about the financial situation of the American people. And you know what? The way he governs shows it.

President Trump made those comments before embarking on a state visit to China. Vice President J.D. Vance was asked about them in a media interaction on Wednesday. "I don't think the President said that. I think that is a misrepresentation," he said. Trump said that he was only worried about Iran not having a nuclear weapon, and Vance said that he agreed with him on that point.
"But of course, the President and I, and the entire team, we care about the American people's financial situations," Vance said. "It is one of the reasons why we passed the Working Families Tax Cut. It is one of the reasons why we are so focused on fraud. We care about how the American people are doing economically. We've also got a number of other challenges. The President has to confront all of these challenges simultaneously."
Vice President JD Vance was asked about President Trump’s comments Tuesday that he doesn’t “think about Americans' financial situation" in the Iran talks:

This is not the first time Sanders has called out the Trump family for making billions of dollars since the presidency began. In an earlier post, he claimed that the Trumps had made $3 billion from crypto alone. "Here's a radical idea. What about having a President who wants to improve the financial well-being of ALL Americans, not just his own family and fellow oligarchs," Sanders said.
According to a New Yorker report published in January, the Trumps amassed this $4 billion through several companies and contracts. This includes profiting from cryptocurrency, digital finance companies, and government and foreign contracts handed to members of the family.
