Mary Trump slams her uncle Donald as an 'incompetent idiot' driven by 'deep insecurities'
President Donald Trump's niece, psychologist and author Mary Trump, has never shied away from criticizing her uncle. During a recent interview on 'The Dean Obeidallah Show', she said that it did not come as a surprise to her that her uncle had "imperialistic ambitions" and placed the blame partly on her grandfather.
"He wants to lead people to believe it's because he's so great and so deserving, which was the myth my grandfather started spreading about him a long time ago, and that Donald has bought into, but it's all just to cover up for his deep insecurities and the fact that he knows on some level he's just an incompetent idiot," she said. Mary has often posed difficult questions to the administration with regard to the President, including about his health and understanding of presidential powers.

Recently, reacting to a clip of the President telling a reporter that he was yet to understand the limits on presidential powers, despite being in the Oval Office for several years, Mary said that her uncle was "incapable of learning anything." "So, we are s******d. And perhaps the bigger issue besides the fact that he does not understand what presidential power is, because of the corrupt, illegitimate supermajority of the Supreme Court, he doesn't need to," she added.
Mary Trump reacts to President's Supreme Court setbacks
In the last few months, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a series of opinions and verdicts before it shut down for summer recess. While some of those decisions were favorable for the Trump administration, like upholding state laws that banned transgender athletes from competing in women's sports, other decisions were not so favorable, like upholding the constitutional right to birthright citizenship.
Taking to X, Mary opined that while it was "great news" that the Supreme Court upheld birthright citizenship, all nine Justices should have voted in favor of it, instead of the 5-4 verdict. Mary was also pleased with the court for declining to hear the President's appeal in relation to the civil lawsuit won by E. Jean Carroll. The author had sued Trump for sexual abuse and defamation, and a federal court found him liable in 2023, awarding Carroll $5 million in damages. "Donald is officially, as adjudicated by a jury of his peers, liable for having sexually abused E. Jean Carroll," she said.
"It took months for the Supreme Court to say that they were not going to touch this case, which is really unfortunate that they were able to drag their feet for so long. But the good news about that is that all along, that $5 million, which was being held in escrow, was accruing interest," she added. What this means is that the President will have to pay substantially more than $5 million to Carroll.
