Marjorie Taylor Greene warns of a political revolution as Trump threatens Iran
Former congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, an ally turned critic of President Donald Trump, has issued a stark warning over the Iran war, which has seemingly reached an impasse in the negotiations. Greene, who has long criticized the President and his policies, took to X on Sunday to warn of a "political revolution" in America if Trump decides to send troops to Iran. She vowed to unite the coalition to end the war if Trump fails to do so, claiming he broke his campaign promises of not starting new wars.
"If you send in U.S. military troops into Iran, there is going to be a political revolution in America. WE. ARE. DONE," Greene wrote in her post on X. The former Republican referred to the party's campaigning as she added, "We said no more foreign wars, and we meant it. The coalition will unite and be unstoppable. I’ll make sure of it." She demanded that the President end the war, claiming it's "stupid" at this point.

WE. ARE. DONE.
We said no more foreign wars and we meant it.

End this war. It’s stupid.
The post came hours after Trump issued fresh threats to Tehran, demanding that they speed up discussions and make a deal. "For Iran, the Clock is Ticking, and they better get moving, FAST, or there won't be anything left of them," he wrote in yet another late-night Truth Social post, adding: "TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE." The President last week tore apart Tehran's counterproposal to end the war, calling it "Totally Unacceptable." Since then, the negotiations have seemingly been on hold as Trump departed for a two-day summit in China.

Upon his return, on Saturday, a day before he issued the threat, Trump met with top members of his national security team to discuss the path forward on the Iran war, CNN reported, citing anonymous sources. According to the report, the meeting at the President's Virginia golf club included Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and special envoy Steve Witkoff.
Trump has lately grown impatient with the handling of the negotiations, as his team was seemingly forced to hold off negotiations during the visit to Beijing, as they wanted to see how talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping played out, as per CNN. Meanwhile, the critical global oil shipping lane, the Strait of Hormuz, remains closed, sending global oil prices into a frenzy. This has, in turn, wreaked havoc on the U.S. economy as the average gas price touched the $4.51 mark on Sunday, as per the AAA.
The negotiations are seemingly at an impasse as the U.S. is demanding that Iran abandon its nuclear program and reopen the Strait of Hormuz completely. On the other hand, Iran is demanding reparations for the damage done by the war, an end to the U.S. blockage on its ports, sovereignty over the strait, and an immediate end to the fighting, including in Lebanon. As Trump refused the counter proposal, Iranian media reported that it was the U.S. that failed to make any concrete concessions, and a lack of compromise would further stall discussions, BBC reported.
