Senator Dick Durbin levelled serious accusations against the Trump family on Sunday. Durbin claimed on X that the Trumps made $1.4 billion "through backroom deals and legal threats." In an interview with C-SPAN, he called the situation unique and said that it would take Republicans a loss in the upcoming midterms to be disillusioned with President Donald Trump.

"This is a unique situation because this is a unique individual," the Illinois Senator said. "And you would think that Republicans, what was left over, would have had enough of this by now, but they're gonna have to lose an election for that to happen. Maybe that happens in November." Durbin is not the only United States Senator to have accused the President of corruption in recent days.

Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff has perhaps been the most vocal about the matter of late. At his "Rally for our Republic" campaign stop in Augusta, Georgia, Ossoff leveled a wide range of accusations against the President's family. He said that the First Family was misusing the office of the President and other Federal institutions for their personal gain.

"He and his family rake in billions from foreign princes," Ossoff said. "While he plunders out health care to cut taxes for the rich." He then spoke about the rising prices of groceries and health premiums, accusing the First Family of getting richer by "billions of dollars" as Americans' expenses continued to rise. He also questioned President Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, for making money from the Middle East.

"Ivanka's husband? He's on the Saudi payroll for $2 billion dollars," he claimed. "And now he's leading American diplomacy in the Middle East, apparently while at the very same time asking princes and sheikhs across the Arab world to give him billions more." According to a report in The New York Times, Kushner has raised billions of dollars from investors in the Middle East for his investment firm, Affinity Partners.

"Can you imagine, like a normal sitting U.S. ambassador just hitting up Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for billions of dollars? But he's a Trump, a royal, a princeling. The rules are for us, not for them," Ossoff added. The 39-year-old also took aim at Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., alleging that they were pitching drone interceptors to Gulf nations in the midst of a war in the region.

"The Financial Times reported, 'Pete Hegseth's broker looked to buy Defense fund before Iran attack.' I'll tell you what. Never before have we seen so little effort to hide so much corruption," Ossoff added. At one point during the rally, he said that it was endless corruption in the first place, which gave rise to "a depraved president who exploits this rot to empower and enrich himself."

New Jersey Senator Andy Kim has also accused the Trumps of corruption. In a post on X, he accused the Trump family of "profiting" from the presidency while Americans "struggle to pay the bills." He also claimed that the Trump Organization has closed eight overseas deals, which he believed were "huge conflicts of interest."
