White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt shared an image of First Lady Melania Trump on X on Wednesday, claiming that she was the "most beautiful and well-dressed First Lady in history." The Press Secretary has been vocally supportive of the Trump family since the shooting incident at the White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday. She also criticized late-night host Jimmy Kimmel for making jokes about the First Lady a few days before the attack.

"Just two days prior to the shooting, ABC's late-night host Jimmy Kimmel disgustingly called First Lady Melania Trump an expectant widow. Who in their right mind says a wife would be glowing over the potential murder of her beloved husband?" she had said. "This kind of rhetoric about the President, the First Lady, and his supporters is completely deranged, and it's unbelievable that the American people are consuming it night after night after night."

Earlier, First Lady Melania expressed disdain with Kimmel's comedy segment and called on ABC to fire him. President Trump, too, made a similar demand. Meanwhile, according to a report in the BBC, the US Federal Communications Commission is ordering an early review of Disney's television broadcast licences. The broadcaster has, however, defended itself with a spokesperson saying that ABC served the public within the rules of the FCC. "Our focus remains, as always, on serving viewers in the local communities where our stations operate," the spokesperson added.

FCC commissioner Anna M. Gomez took to X to condemn the order against ABC. She called it the "most egregious attack on the First Amendment to date." In an interview with CNN, Gomez called the order "unprecedented" and "unlawful." She also said that she was glad to see Disney "push back" as it could use the First Amendment to defend its stance.

"This is not an attempt to make local communities better served by their broadcasters. Instead, it is a way to wage a political fight against the parent company, Disney," she said. "This is a First Amendment violation, this is the Administration’s attempt to force Disney and other broadcasters to broadcast content that they like and to go after vocal critics."

The White House Press Secretary, meanwhile, came under sharp criticism from Democrats on Tuesday. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said, "The so-called White House Press Secretary, who is a disgrace; she's a stone cold liar, had the nerve to stand up there and read talking points being critical of statements, all taken out of context, that Democrats have made and didn't have a word to say about anything that MAGA extremists have said or done including providing aid and comfort to violent insurrectionists here at this Capitol."
