Donald Trump calls Iran proposal 'piece of garbage', says ceasefire is on 'massive life support'
President Donald Trump sharply criticized Iran's proposal to bring a permanent end to hostilities between the two countries on Monday. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said that the proposal was "unbelievably weak." He added that he did not go through the entire proposal, calling it a "piece of garbage." Speaking about the ceasefire, he said that it was on "massive life support," indicating the possibility of a resumption of attacks in the coming days.

Despite calls for the war to end due to high gas prices in the country, President Trump reiterated that there was no pressure on him to rush the process. "It's a very simple plan. Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, and they won't have a nuclear weapon," he said. "They think that, 'Well, I'll get tired of this or I'll get bored, or I'll have some pressure.' But there's no pressure. There's no pressure at all. We're going to have a complete victory," he said.
On Sunday, President Trump announced on Truth Social that he was not going to accept Iran's proposal. When asked why, he said that it was "just unacceptable," quickly adding that he has the "best plan ever." The President also believes that Iran was militarily beaten. "Iran has been defeated militarily; totally. They have a little left; they probably built up during this period of time. We'll knock that out in about a day," he said.

Despite not agreeing to Tehran's latest proposal, Trump said that the "moderates" in Iran were desperate to make a deal with Washington. "The lunatics want to fight till the end. It will be a very quick fight," the President said, adding that these "moderates" in Iran were afraid of the "lunatics" due to the latter's "ferocity." However, as things stand, Washington and Tehran do not seem to have much common ground to make a permanent peace deal.

When asked about higher gas prices due to the ongoing Middle East situation, President Trump urged reporters to look towards the stock market, which was "higher than it was before the war started." He said that he expected prices to go down by as much as 25%, and that he was ready to take a "bullet" for the country, as it was worth Iran not having a nuclear weapon.
On Monday, the Speaker of Iran's Parliament, M.B. Ghalibaf, delivered a stern warning to those looking to go on the offensive against Tehran. Taking to X, Ghalibaf warned that the Iranian military was prepared to "deliver a well-deserved response" to acts of aggression. "We are prepared for all options; they will be surprised," he added.

Meanwhile, the White House has said that all options were still on the table with regard to Iran. "The President is never one to rule out options for himself. He always possesses all options on the table," White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly said in an interview on Fox News. "It is important for the Iranian regime to recognize the dismal reality of their situation."
