Celebrated author Don Winslow slammed U.S. President Donald Trump on X on Sunday. Addressing MAGA, Winslow said that Trump was neither strong nor respected. "Trump is a broken, old clown," he added, before stating that the President did not care about Americans and labeled him a con artist. His post on X comes as Trump celebrated his 80th birthday with a much-talked-about UFC event on the South Lawn of the White House.

In a separate post, Winslow also criticized the MoU scheduled to be signed between Tehran and Washington. While the terms of the deal have not been officially made public by the White House, President Trump accused Iran of leaking details that he called "fake news." Pointing out the leaked details, Winslow claimed that the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), signed under President Obama, was better.

"$24B in unfrozen assets/cash, $300B reconstruction fund, lifted sanctions in exchange for opened Strait under Iran/Oman control," he wrote, before pointing out that under Obama, Tehran had agreed to  $1.7B in unfrozen assets for a 98% reduction in uranium and limiting enrichment to 3.7%.

Winslow also shared a video in which U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth claimed that Washington had controlled the Strait of Hormuz "all this time" as it took out millions of barrels of oil through the waterways without any interruption from the Iranian forces. "I am really glad all this is on video because otherwise no one would ever believe you are this stupid," the author wrote.

While President Trump's announcement of the war being over will come as a relief to many, the New York Times reports that many of the goals that Trump had set had not been achieved. Three months ago, he said that the U.S. would "annihilate" Iran's military and nuclear ambitions. He also claimed that the leadership in Tehran would be toppled and that it would agree to an unconditional surrender.

The deal has been finalized and is expected to be signed in Geneva on Friday. As per President Trump, Iran "no longer wants a nuclear weapon, nor will they have one, either through purchase, development, or any other form of procurement." Trump framed the breakthrough as a historic achievement that previous administrations couldn't secure, emphasizing that it would restore regional stability and lower global oil prices.
