Charlamagne joins backlash against Josh Hokit after Michelle Obama remark at White House UFC event
Popular radio host Charlamagne Tha God took shots at MMA fighter Josh Hokit after the latter's derogatory comments at former First Lady Michelle Obama. Speaking at the White House's UFC Freedom 250 event, Hokit had said that the former First Lady "is a man" after presenting his chain and medallion to U.S. President Donald Trump. Speaking on 'The Breakfast Club', Charlamagne said that such comments only reminded Americans what the White House was missing.
"All you do when you bring the Obamas up is remind people what is currently missing from the White House," he said. "The Obamas set a standard for decency and class and poise and intelligence in the White House. That no longer exists now. You did not have to agree with the Obamas politically to recognise that they were a masterclass in dignity."

"Now that bar is in hell. Satan and his demons use that bar to limbo," the radio host added. He then spoke about Hokit, claiming that people like him never viewed black people as equals, in violation of the United States Constitution. "This was his way of marginalising the First Lady and trying to remind us all that they don't see us as equals. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are for them, not us. This country has been trying to dehumanise Black people since forever," he continued.
While Hokit has come under a lot of criticism for his comment, the MMA fighter has continued to stand by his statement. He has shared several messages on social media defending his position and attacking those who questioned him. From among his critics, Hokit shared a clip of actor Shane Gillis on X, writing, "Oh well, to each their own."

He also shared a clip of TV host Greg Gutfeld questioning where the outrage from the "left" was when the current First Lady, Melania Trump, was called an "escort" or when certain people said that Charlie Kirk "deserved to die." While neither the White House nor the President has condemned the MMA star for his comments, popular American businessman Dave Portnoy believes that Hokit should face some consequences.
"I don't care what you think about the Obamas or anything else; that has to be immediately denounced," he said on Wake Up Barstool. Hokit also drew criticism from UFC boss Dana White. "I understand that the Obamas are public figures, but I'm completely against saying nasty and false things about people's families," he said, as per Time. "Everyone knows my position on free speech, but I hate that kind of nonsense.
