Do you have days when you feel like you just can’t move?
You can’t move forward, you know you should, you need to, there are things to do, but sometimes it’s just seems impossible. Suddenly everything in the world is more important than yourself and your own dreams and ideas. There are others who are calling for you, everyone else needs you, there’s always so much to do. So it’s not surprising that you don’t move, don’t change, don’t allow yourself to be the person that you wanted to be today.
So the pattern replays, day after day, week after week, until finally the call of the things you were trying to do in the first place seems lost forever. Drowned out or forgotten, only a whisper of a memory that doesn’t even seem to belong to you anymore.
That’s how easily it happens. That’s what’s happened in the lives of so many of us. It seems like a cycle that’s impossible to break.
But it IS possible to change. It IS possible to regain that dream, that goal that joy in life that used to be. It IS possible — it CAN be done.
It starts with the need for a choice; a decision. A moment of decisiveness that change is needed, change must happen, that something needs to shift.
A different dimension: changing patterns
Imagine that you could change the course of your life, not just for yourself, but for the whole world that’s touched by your actions. Imagine the world that you could create for yourself and those around you if you decided differently.
It’s a story that’s been told and retold a hundred times as the basis of films and books, but the message is the same. It’s easy to forget how the choices we make every day create the world that we see and live in.
The decisions we make today, and the actions we take are what are creating our tomorrows. Every single action we take is a moment of transformation — in which we hold the magic to be able to create the tomorrow that we choose.
So why is it so hard?
A decision that we make is only as strong as our will power to follow it through.
Imagine the story of Tomas Edison and his quest to invent the lightbulb as we know it today. He is quoted as saying that “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” Whether or not the quote was really said, it’s true that Edison labored for years on this one project; trying, failing, re-adjusting, trying, failing, re-adjusting, trying… again and again until a moment of inspiration led him to a solution.
Imagine now what that journey would look like for most of us.
Firstly we’d need to listen to the whisper of the idea and decide to do something about it. A choice that most of us even fail to hear, let alone choose to act upon.
Once a choice was made, the first thing we’d do is jump onto Google to see how everyone else is doing it. Then to make another choice on whether it’s worth even trying. After all if no one else can do it, what’s the chances of you doing it?! And how many of us would see it through? Past the 10th try, past the 50th, the 100th or the 1000th?
Nothing in life is guaranteed, but the world in which we live today seems to breed within us a feeling of entitlement to give in. That if something isn’t reached easily it’s impossible, or worse it’s ‘not meant to be’.
The world today gives us so many opportunities to stop trying, to stop choosing, to give in after the first efforts. But the world before us was built on enormous ideas, on outrageous goals that have shaped where our today has brought us.
Be your own genius
For most of us, we don’t need to be, or are meant to be, building satellites, grand canals, roads through mountains, light bulbs, Televisions or anything else that would have been classed as impossible only a few generations ago. For most of us the call that’s within us is to LIVE, to be the unique expression of life that we were put on this earth to be; and no matter what our dream it is our responsibility to not give up.
If we give in, we are allowing the world to be less than it should be. Without our expression of life within it, the world is a lesser place.
From small steps, from one decision every day we CAN change our lives. We can choose to allow more of who we really are out into the world; we can decide to be who we really WANT to be.
So, what if you chose to not let another day pass that was not spent in anything other than a vision of possibility? A creative, positive flow from which endless possibility flows into your life? Imagine what you could achieve!
