The beauty of kindness is long lasting

As I get older, I realise that beautiful people aren’t the ones with svelte figures and high cheekbones or rippling muscles and square jaws but rather people who are kind and generous to others.

Beautiful people use their physical exterior to attract others while kind and generous people use their words and actions in assisting others and are judged and remembered as being beautiful in a non- physical way.

The ego-based people focusing on their looks, their attire, car and home want to be seen as desirable and successful. They expend so much energy in keeping the facade of their lives in perfect order that they usually forget that the people they are trying to impress usually don’t care about anyone else as they are so preoccupied with themselves. So making all that effort to be admired and desired is usually wasted as most people are jealous or envious and the few who do admire those people have their selfish reasons for doing so.

Untold amounts of dollars are spent annually by these ego-based people in keeping up the pretenses of their perfect lives. Very few people like them for who they project to be. Usually, these ego-based people are self-absorbed and do not do anything for another person unless they derive a benefit for doing so.

A person who is kind and generous to another doesn’t have to worry about their self-image and usually focus their energy in uplifting others with a kind word or a smile of appreciation and other forms of expressing this kindness and generosity. Kind and generous people respect all the people they come into contact with, without any ulterior motive in doing so. Many people want to be around these unsung heroes and heroines as they give happiness and joy wherever they go.

We have the Forbes List of wealthiest people, the Miss World beauty pageants, the Olympic Games to recognize the achievements of sports people and the Nobel Prize to honour significant achievements in the arts, sciences, economy and other fields.

Why is there no global recognition for people who show kindness and generosity to others?

These kind and generous people operate from their love based soul and not from their fear-based ego. They do not need recognition and awards. They would shy away from such recognition and probably be unwilling even to be nominated for such a global prize.

The reward they receive is one of reverence for who they are as loving souls, and they are usually so humble that even that reverence makes them feel uncomfortable.

There are beliefs among many religious and spiritual beings that our good deeds go before us when we pass on from this world onto the next. Perhaps that is where the real recognition is of everlasting benefit for these kind and generous people?
