  • How Self-Acceptance Will Set You Free

Self-appreciation is fundamental not only for self-acceptance but also for empowering oneself!

    • Wow,let me totally accept that I have been a jerk to the one I claim to love. Let me love the choice I made to retaliate a boundary made. Let me love myself for denying my growth toward decency and selflessness. Let me appreciate and accept my mean heart, that’s real self love . Maybe by loving myself I can
      accept being unkind

    • A great way to begin the work is to write down daily what you are grateful about yourself.

Especially, I like to take a photo and write down some comment for remindering myself.

      Learn how to appreciate yourself.

      Thanks.
      Ray 🙂

    • This was a great article @Akiroq. Thank you!!!❤❤❤

    • In some ways, I feel that self-acceptance is sitting down to who I am, when I feel there’s a possibility I could be better. I’m also aware this article doesn’t mean what I feel about myself. I often think that by accepting things, I’m giving up. I have those inner conflicts going on. The article is very interesting, with useful tips and helpful advice as to how I can alter my way of looking at this area of my personality. I’ve always been hard on myself, but it just makes me feel worse. Therefore, sometimes, we have to think, I am as I am, it is what it is. I’m not able to write good stuff about myself, I keep it all in my head, should I need it. I need to get fitter and smarten up my look, in my view. Stop self-harming. That’s probably why people under-estimate me, but that’s to my advantage, and their problem. I don’t “love myself”, but I wouldn’t change me either. I am unique, but I’m in among people who I cannot connect with and they become resentful of my achievements and ideas etc., even though I’m a small dot on a big map. I’ve read the article about this topic, and I think, deep down, I’m rather proud of some of me, but I’ve missed opportunities, given up things I was good at, left school too soon, studied as a mature student but couldn’t find work related to my subject area, I have a few regrets. But, good has come around in its own way too. I wouldn’t like to think I would be in the state I’m in now if I had paid attention to creating a better future for myself. As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve been subjected to abuse most of my life, so it’s hard to even like myself. I could never love myself, not now. But, I totally get what’s going on here. When you take care of yourself and look after your own well-being, and mind, body, soul and spirit, the path will be smoother. We cope better and handle things better, when we are comfortable in our own skin. I think it’s years of criticism which has had a negative impact on me, and then, always feeling I could have done better. I can now spot the people who aren’t happy for me when I succeed. They have more issues than me. I might note down a few good things about myself and stick it through my Father’s letterbox!!! Hopefully it will penetrate his stubborn head. Thank you

    • Thank you Akiroq. Great article. ❤

    • I really admire your sophistication and your excellent writing skills! Sometimes fear can be a good thing! Fear can be our best ally and in many circumstances it can protect us from evil people who only pretend to want what’s best for us but in reality they only aim for the destruction of our souls! Captain Fear will give us wings to fly far away to a beautiful place where love and peace exist! Thank you Akiroq for your inspiring article! 🙏🙏👑👑🏆🏆🎖🏅🥇🌟⭐️✨🌻🌹🌹🌹

    • “You will no longer be allowing fear to confine your potential.” Love that – and thank you for an encouraging perspective on fear, courage and change. xo

    • Fear, Fear…. NOT,,, step forward, yes. Try something new, drive a different way to work a prettier ride,
make that call, visit that friend. Don't wait for that phone call; call them first. Send that card, put down the cell phone or turn it off. Look UP the sky is beautiful in the day OR the night time. Smlle at everyone…it is contagious and makes us all feel better. Yes be real, be honest, be YOU and let fear disappear……..

    • I get irrational fears about things often. Especially travelling and neighbours, or running out of money or things going wrong in the house. I’ve tried to control it, ignore it or try to overcome it, but it stays with me. I hate public transport. It could be the feeling that someone else is in control of me by driving that bus “their” way or route. Or a touch of claustrophobia, the feeling of people being ill or seeing me ill. The whole thing horrifies me. Before I go out, I rehearse all this in my head, then talk myself out of going anywhere. I don’t know why. I’ve become more fearful as I got older. It limits my activities.

    • This is a great article. I can relate and a few things captured my attention, such as develop a new relationship with fear, reclaim your curiosity, have fun, learn to step over our fears and act with courage is necessary. I do admire your writing skills. Keep up the great work Akiroq!

    • Nothing is a guarantee. Everything is a risk. There is no life without risk. Not even tomorrow is promised.

The people let fear take over your life because unknown. Let you courage overcome your fear.

    • Fear shouldn’t stop us from moving forward, otherwise we will be trapped in fear. If we are meant to move forward, we will anyway. It depends what kind of fear and what we are moving forward too. Fear can be a defence mechanism, a driving force or just a hindrance. What’s to be will be. I wouldn’t allow fear to stop me moving to a better place in my Soul. I would face it head on, and try to overcome obstacles now, but everyone is different. Having said that, I have a fear of public transport which is a pain when I have to travel to my Son’s house. I’ve made the journey many a time, but it never gets easier. Now I’m at the stage where I’m pretty much refusing to go, or make excuses as to why I can’t make it. This deprives me of enjoying a visit to see everyone. There is another reason which isn’t fear, it’s experience. Sometimes fear can prevent us from doing certain things but, if we can’t get over it, life can be pretty limited. Opportunities can slip past. As I’m typing, I’m remembering that fear “has” stopped me in my tracks of making progress in the past, but I regret not tackling this fear earlier. What is fear? Is it fear or phobia? I guess it’s not that easy to fight fear. If it’s a level of fear that is within our coping abilities, we can overcome them in time and move on, it’s not too daunting. But if you have a mountain to climb, like me, we should really get into a place in our heads whereby we can and try to beat it. If it’s a chance of feeling much better, sometimes it’s worth going through the process. Just focus on the prize.

@Jennimcgill I'd be perfectly OK if you would like to parse the first 3 qualifying/personal story paragraphs. IMO the article could start at: “Many people that we encounter are”and still stand on its own. <3

I had great difficulty socializing, as well as forming and maintaining relationships. I didn’t understand why people said or did many things. It was incredibly confusing.
