Life Gives You What You Need, Not What You Want

When difficulties arise, you’re given three chances to hear and respond.

When you’re working through a barrage of challenges, life can feel relentless.

Praying for a break or something to be different, the hard stuff keeps showing up. You long for ‘normal,’ whatever that is, or a constant in amongst the chaos. During these difficult times, it’s natural to try to avoid your issues because facing them is confronting. But your problems will always find you in the end, and resistance just delays the inevitable. At best they’ll be postponed. At worst they’ll hit you even harder, perhaps when your tank is already empty, and there’s nothing left in reserve to draw strength from. Your heart starts to close as you pull back from life, all of it, including the good.

When difficulties arise, you’re given three chances to hear and respond.

The first message is delivered as a gentle nudge from the universe suggesting change is made. If you don’t listen, a painful slap follows close behind. One you feel quite profoundly, but often still choose to ignore. Continuing to bury your head in the sand is an option. However, be prepared for the rug to be literally pulled out from beneath you at any moment. If you get to this point, your life will be sent into disarray as the wall tumbles down brick by brick. You won’t have enough hands to catch all the falling pieces, and any attempt will be fruitless as numerous fragments fall through your fingers. Left questioning why this is happening, you wonder where you went wrong.

So, what’s the alternative?

Firstly, stop what you’re doing and breathe. Breathe deeply, perhaps for the first time in a long time. Get still. Listen to your intuition. Your soul knows all the answers to every problem you face. Each jigsaw piece will be revealed at the right time. Allow yourself to be vulnerable, this is vital. It’s okay to need and ask for help from others. Most people will be there for you because we’re all connected and desire the same things from life: love, peace, happiness. For those that aren’t, let them go. Walk towards your difficulties. This seems like a contradiction but is the only way to navigate your way through hurdles.

When you embrace all aspects of life, warts and all, the intensity of the situation lessens, and space is created to soften the harsh edges.

Understanding that you’ve been given what you need, instead of what you want, will help guide you through the near impossible with more ease and grace. Remember there’s a silver lining in every dark cloud, even though it doesn’t feel like it at the time. Keep digging deep, these tribulations are being offered to you for resolution. Don’t allow fear to be the reason you don’t deal with difficulties. Tough periods provide an opportunity for substantial personal growth, to finally be who you need to be. That’s such a blessing. Healing wounds enables you to move forward in your life and reap the benefits of doing so. Even when you can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, know that one day you’ll look back at your life and be able to join up all the dots. The jigsaw puzzle will be complete, and you’ll understand how everything made perfect sense, despite the heartache of imperfection.

Trust yourself, you’ve got this, keep going!

Very useful and good article.
In fact I learned from life that when we have a problem we need to confront it not ignore it and put our head in tha sand like Ostrich ,because in this case the problem becomes bigger , like the article mentioned. I learned also that i need to take a break before confrontation not because fear but to recharge my energy and see the problem from another point to find good solutions or answers ,like the player in a match for example boxing match, if the boxer doesn’t take a break for a while to get some rest and take deep breaths and get some advices from the coach ,he will consume all his energy unwisely and be a loser, some life challenges are difficult need break to think about them clearly and recharge our energy and make good plans and preparations ,like the boxer after the break he will go to confront the other one full with trust ,energy ,good plans ,….finally he could win 👏✌🥉the match with big smile on his face 🙂,and like the quote said( he laughs best who laughs last ).

Nice lovely, inspiring article..Thanks!Sarah Willoughby..v.beautifuly express your words of wisdom..and thoughts…on the topic.. (Life gives us wht we need..not wht we want),yes you are absolutely right..it’s life ..it gives us the basic needs..wht we want from life..its upon on us,upon our own struggles that make us acheive wht we want to achieve…As common saying 《Life is wht you make out of it》☆Challanges..hardships..tough and hard situations..worries.. sensitivity..emotionality ..fear..or any obstacles in our way.are the tools…if we use these tools to repair our Souls ,minds more and more..if we learn and practice to fight them courage and patience with hope..Will power..and positive energy and good skills…The difficult problems..challenges can’t make us trouble some..or create a fuss .anxiety or continues fight..all these are dealt with quite ease and we can overcome them…and our life gains stable levels….we can lead a happy relaxed life and can do a lot ,lot positive and purpose ful works in this one life….and can focus on our inner instincts…guts and positive energies to remain calm..cool..and relaxed always and in touch situations we can deal with patience and more courage and stamina..Time and energy used in positive and constructive manners …can be really fruitful for our own growing and healthy,Happy life and we can ease other Souls with more [Love],{care}and {Compassion}…Life is to give not to take..we always heal and grow when we heal..comfort.. and ease other Souls…That makes life a real paradise to live…and love care all..💖💐Amen

HI, this article I can really relate too. I got a bike and joined a Zumba class last month. well on Friday I had bad pains in my rib cage. I have to slow down on my riding a bit, maybe not how often just a little less intense. I really love Zumba and one I can build up these muscles in a few weeks I can do Zumba again. maybe less. I do not have to that so intense either you can go at your own pace. So when i began not to think it was all or nothing and thought rationally I was able to be calm. I have not done either of these in a long time so I have to remember that too. I put in several volunteer applications around where I live, I have been kind of disappointed that no one has called me. I really would like to volunteer at the Domestic Violence Center where I attended my program, but I would sure be happy with any of them. I told my therapist yesterday I called Joanne at the Help Restore Center (domestic violence) and that I had called weeks ago and I felt weird calling again. she said well it doesn’t hurt. those are key words because what would it hurt? nothing. it is the better chance I have the more I keep trying with anything. I filled out an application for the Bottle Return place it is slow-paced and have to turn my application in today. I had a week of rest mostly because of my ribs hurting and have been awfully tired. so I missed AA, and church. which things happen in life and I have to laugh at myself because it is not like I am out drinking again or crushing my goals. But last Thursday I went to my niece’s graduation from Elementary School. That is what really mattered! It was priceless and a memory I will cherish forever, see when a few things fall out of place God replaced it for something a lot bigger. I rode my bike yesterday I was a little sore but that’s all, I am riding it today. I will keep on trying with all my hobbies, hopes and dreams!! I might of felt a few bumps knock me over but I can get back up quickly!! God’s Faith and strength truly help me!! there are always bumps we just need to use our courage and resilience to bounce back!! so with my hobbies and goals I will keep on trying and trying, and God has me where I need to be I really believe that. I am blessed with peace and joy and grateful how many people are always there for me when I need them. I hope everyone never ever gives up what they love and are passionate about we all move at different places, but God has a plan for all of us!! things happen for a reason!! thank you for thus SIMPLE REMINDER BRYANT AND JENNI! GOD BLESS YOU! AND EVERYONE

Hello Sarah, how are you today? I really enjoyed your very wise article!!! Fabulous! All my life I have been consumed by great fear, big heart ships, obstacles beyond human imagination, just like everyone else in this beautiful and painful world! I cried, I was soooo depressed, I didn’t care about anything!!! When we feel sad, our negative cells multiply very fast, soooo if we don’t wake up, we are doomed! It’s like committing suicide! No love whatsoever for the miracle of Life!! When I realized what was happening I had an explosive wake up call, I became more stronger than before and my love for life upgraded to the next level! Thank you Sarah for this life saving article!!!🙏🙏🙏

Sarah,
How do you know about the “3 chances”?
Maybe some get more, some less? Please explain.

People talk about going through a hard time or a tough spell which will pass. Some people have a hard time all their lives. It can be a constant sift through thick mud, with several issues all circling round them. We just have to resolve them or suffer them. I can learn from that situation then along comes another. It’s a constant battle against the odds. I just keep praying for the strength to deal with my daily chaos and challenges. Some of it is outwith my control. I cope with things better when I’m in a good state of mind irchave a purpose, or something to look forward to. Otherwise, I can drift into a depression. I have to do everything on my own. No one helps me. I’m surrounded by enemies and horrible people who don’t respect me and treat me badly. I’m not sure I will ever see the light ray of peace.

Hello Sarah😊 My heart is telling me that if I remain focused on the essentials of life like positivity, self care/Love, my goals/dreams, authenticity, it won’t take long and I will be seeing the silver lining, the light at the end if the tunnel. I just have to express more gratitude/appreciation for life’s blessings big and small instead of focusing on negatives.
Thank you so much Bryant and Jenni💕 Namaste
